What types of land features to the different types of plate boundaries produce?
Hint #1 & #2: Match the types of boundaries up with mountains, mid-ocean ridge, and earthquakes.
Answer: Divergent= mid-ocean ridge, convergent=mountains, transform=earthquakes
Describe what type of movement occurs at convergent, divergent, and transform plate boundaries.
Hint #1: If two individuals converge, they…? Hint #2: What does it mean to diverge?
Answer: Convergent=move toward each other, divergent=move away from each other, transform= slide past each other
What are the different types of boundaries found along the edges of Earth’s plates?
Hint #1: One involves when two plates come together.Hint #2: Another involves two plates diverging.
Answer: Convergent, divergent, and transform
What is the theory of plate tectonics?
Hint #1: Involves plate movement.Hint #2: Why do the plates move?
Answer:Theory that states that pieces of Earth’s lithosphere are in constant, slow motion, driven by convection currents in the mantle.
Describe the process of subduction at a deep-ocean trench.
Hint #1: Where does all of that oceanic crust eventually get pushed towards?Hint #2: Basalt is more dense than granite.
Answer: More dense oceanic crust is subducted underneath the less dense continental crust.
Describe how sea-floor spreading occurs at the mid-ocean ridge.
Hint #1: Sea-floor results in new rock being produced.Hint #2: What major activity occurs at the mid-ocean ridge.Answer: Sea-floor spreading occurs when lava pushes through at the mid-ocean ridge and apart the oceanic crust.
Hint #1 & #2: Match the types of boundaries up with mountains, mid-ocean ridge, and earthquakes.
